Kansas city temple

So about a week ago on the fifth I was in the Kansas city temple cultural celebration. It was amazing! first a few other things, during practice they kept saying you are singing your testimony. I think that's amazing. I am not a great singer but during that I sang. It was probably the best experience I have had spiritually. If there is anyone wondering if they should be a part of a cultural celebration just do it. It will be worth it. Another thing we finished the first segment and were walking off I saw a girl from my ward she was crying because she felt the spirit so strongly. I cried too as soon as the prophet walked in. We were in emerald city waiting to go onto the stage and I felt something happy something warm inside me. I knew it somehow I knew he was there. But after that we were standing on the stairs and he walked in. I was standing in behind one of my friends and I started crying he kept turning around to look at me. I think it was probably the best thing in the world to see. The prophet with my own eyes. He told us that as soon as this was over to write in our journals everything that happened that night. And I did we were in the car going home and I wrote on my journal app.

Okay so I am going to start from the beginning when we got to Kansas city. We get to Kansas city and we go to the parking garage. We go to the park with everyone and eat and there was this homeless guy and it was sad. Someone wanted to poke him with a stick. we finished and went to the cars and switched the girls stuff to sisters helwigs car and the boys stuff to my dads car. i had to change in the car and it was really awkward because Aubrey screamed that i was changing my pants and i felt very rushed and it was super hot in the car. i got changed and then we went and checked in. i am still wearing my bracelet and will be until we go to the temple and i have to take it off which will be in a few weeks. We sat around for a while until there was an opening prayer. Then the Joplin stake got a tour but we didn't get to go onto the stage because they were messing with lights. while we were standing in line for the tour i saw my friend Ashlynne and using the telephone sign i was trying to ask her where her phone was because i had been texting her. This boy made the sign back at me it was hilarious. i was trying to take pictures of Ashlynne so i could put them on my blog and he photo bombed them. I will put those pictures up. We sat around some more until everyone had a tour and then the fireside started. i think i made a video of everyone singing but i'm not sure. it was pretty amazing that 3,000 mormons were in the same room. Then we watched a segment of the cultural celebration which was the Tongan dance. i made a video of that. i will put it up as soon as i put it on YouTube. it was really good and i felt a little bit worried that the Joplin dance wouldn't be as good. THEN Kenneth Cope sang for us! i made a video of that too. It sounded just like the CD. Someone talked to us and then we said a closing prayer. We were there for a while because our leaders were busy. We left and went to spend the night at someones house i don't know her name. But they had an amazing house every one  of the rooms was amazing. There was a room that had the young women values on the walls. There was one that was very pretty but i cant remember exactly what it looked like. And there was a camping room. that was my favorite i took a picture of it but it wasn't a great picture because it was very dark. I took a shower and went to bed. We woke up at five. i think that says enough. I am still exhausted from that day. We ate a yummy breakfast and left. i stared out the window most of the ride. we got there and someone said an opening prayer. we then practiced the Arise number which i didn't get to use very much of because i was standing on the stairs. then we sat around until about 11 when we practiced broken hearts. I was kind of sad we weren't doing a fun number but we ran through it and i was  amazed i knew it was the right thing. It was very inspiring and Kenneth Cope came just to sing his "broken" song for our dance. the person who made the video for the before part of the dance also bought everyone bracelets that said " One year of healing Joplin May 22,2011". They are very cool and i am glad to have gotten it. then we went and ate lunch. After lunch we found out there were problems with the lighting and we said a prayer. This was not a normal opening prayer. Everyone in the room kneeled down to this very heart touching prayer. amazingly not very long after the lights were fixed. We practiced the popcorn dance, cotton eyed joe,and techno dance. then we practiced the ending which was singing we believe and one heart in the heartland. We also practiced the Arise song. It was about 4 at that point and we all ate dinner. We finished just to find out people were coming in we could not have a dress rehearsal. They started telling us how to get on and off and other little things. THAT was our dress rehearsal. We go to the stage and get in our places for the arise song. Somebody said an opening prayer. Then the prophet came out. This was what i had been the most excited for. He walked out and i immediately started crying. I could feel the spirit so strongly and i knew he was the prophet of our church. Like i said before My friend in front of me kept looking behind him at me. i kept crying. There was a native american dance and we sang arise. We left and i saw a girl from my ward she had felt the spirit so strongly she had cried through the entire thing. I then saw Shelley Van Scharr and she was crying too. We went back to Emerald city and grabbed our props mine was a blanket which i had to cover myself with because there were not enough girls to cover with a blanket. We get in line and a girl comes up to me and tells me i was supposed to be in the back of her line. she said it differently and i didn't understand. I stayed in my line and my leader came over and yelled at me telling me to get in my correct line and it was all about "spacing". It scared me. Soon we came on. First Kenneth Cope sang broken for us. Then there was a video describing the tornado. the dance started and there were two families that couldn't find their own families and were running around looking for them and i teared up a little bit. They ran into each others arms and a little girl jumped into her fathers arms. Then the helping hand boys and the blanket girls ran on. The boys helped the Joplin ward and Webb city ward boys up. The blanket girls ran and put blankets on the Joplin ward and Webb city ward girls. we did our dance and box people came on and did their box drum thing. we all did a dance together and then we gathered around the houses looked at each other and then looked at the audience. it ended and the audience gave us a standing ovation. They clapped for what seemed like a long time finally there was a blackout and we ran to our next spots. Before i go on i must tell you this my brother just a few days before the cultural celebration sprained his ankle pole vaulting. I was afraid he would not be able to participate. But he did. He helped carry on one of the houses. i think heavenly father helped give him the strength to do that. AND he did that without his crutches. So anyway the beehives and deacons had to get up to the concourse and since i am a beehive i ran as as fast as i could next to my friend Marie to the concourse close to President Monson. It was amazing being that close to him. It was worth it that i wasn't really able to do the popcorn dance. i was probably 20 feet away from him. Now i must tell you about how all day i was scheming about how i could get as close to him as possible. And i did! Next came the cotton eyed joe and techno dance. Then we went to the We Believe song and signed the chorus. It was very special. i absolutely loved it. Then we sang one heart in the heartland which was written just for this program.we all screamed hosanna at the end. We started spinning our shirts around to say goodbye to president Monson. He wiggled his ears for us waved and left. we started going down the stairs and then Kenneth Cope patted me on the back and said good job! I got his autograph and a picture with him. There is a lady some where out there that needs to send a picture to Ashley Hall. please do that. it was the picture of three girls with Kenneth Cope. I also took your picture with him. That is all. i will be posting pictures of the Friday night before this. sadly i took no pictures on Saturday.
